Being best friends for five years, Alice Montgomery and Aaron Blake are as close as ever. Except one day, during a job interview, Aaron lets it slip that he might be dating Alice. Except he’s not. Now. Alice and Aaron are pushed into a fake relationship, but perhaps there are some underlying feelings that have yet to be exposed.
The Alice Equation shows us the roots of friends to lovers and fake dating with Alice and Aaron and the way that they take their time in showing their feelings. I loved that their friendship was so strong and that’s what made them gravitate toward each other from the start.

Alice Montgomery’s life is like Groundhog Day. Five years after graduating, she’s still working in her mum’s bookshop, hiding her stash of romance novels under the bed and pining for the gorgeous guy who helped her over a panic attack before her final uni exam.
Aaron Blake loves to party—hard. His idea of commitment to anything other than his legal career is strictly three months. Until landing a job with the most prestigious—but conservative—law firm in town means he has to convince the partners he’s deeply committed to family values.
Aaron needs a fake date fast—and who could be safer than his bookish friend Alice?
Soon Alice finds herself dating her secret crush, sporting a daring new look of vintage frocks and itsy-bitsy lace lingerie.
Now the heat is notching up. Aaron’s feelings for his fake date are proving anything but safe, and Alice is discovering her inner sex-goddess.
But when secrets are revealed and lies uncovered, both Alice and Aaron will have to work out the hardest equation of all… what this crazy thing called loved is all about.

I gave The Alice Equation four stars, really enjoying Alice and Aaron together. It started off unrequited but not all love ends unrequited. I enjoyed the way Aaron had these small shocks when he seemed to discover this new side of Alice. Even though they’ve been best friends for five years, they still had a lot to learn about each other and from each other.
Throughout The Alice Equation, I came to appreciate the chemistry between Alice and Aaron and the way that their friends to lovers romance stood strong and that their friendship was still just as strong even as they implemented new things into their relationship. Sometimes I felt like I could feel my heart being squeezed when I read Aaron’s point of view when he would think about Alice and sometimes I could feel the love Alice felt for Aaron simply through words on a page. You could feel their relationship while reading this and that’s what made The Alice Equation so enjoyable. You really got to witness Alice and Aarons’ great romance as they both discovered themselves and each other.
Not only did they start out as friends but their friendship really tested the time. It was just amazing to see how really connected they were without the relationship aspect and more friendship aspect. I felt that you could see the way that they both grew as characters and started to listen to each other, even in a fake relationship such as their own. But, fake relationship or not, you could tell that as the book continued on, their love was evident.
I found The Alice Equation an unexpectedly fun read and liked every second of reading about Alice and Aaron’s relationship.
