Love at first sight.
Steamy second chance.
Regency splendor.

As the most distinguished watchmaker in England, Christian Bainbridge believes in accurate timepieces, not love. He secretly offered his heart years ago, and he’s never gotten it back. When Raine Mowbray stumbles into his life again, Christian realizes the woman he’s worshiped from afar is still the woman he desires above all others.

Raine Mowbray needs solitude and employment, not love. A housemaid forced to flee a loathsome earl’s grasp, the last thing she’s seeking is a man’s attention. When she finds herself unexpectantly paired with a gorgeous watchmaker in need of an assistant, she’s unnerved by his wit, kindness—and clandestine devotion to her.

If you like spirited heroines who fight falling in love and charmingly arrogant heroes who think they know best, then this is the book for you! Snuggle up with Tempting the Scoundrel, a steamy second chance, love-at-first-sight Regency Romance!

I gave Tempting the Scoundrel two stars. I found the story in all honesty, somewhat mediocre. This was an insta-love historical romance based in the early 1800s but it just felt like there wasn’t anything behind it. Christian found Raine coincidentally, ten years after seeing her at his distant cousin’s estate. But, I felt like we aren’t given enough of them. The plot was lacking quite a lot and how we aren’t given much except hardship of what they go through. We are only given the happy parts and while there was a moment where things seemed like it didn’t work for Christian and Raine, that was it, a rather short chapter of difficulty.

I have read insta-love in the past but this book didn’t quite hit the romance that usually happens between characters. I love it when I read a romance book and can feel the chemistry between two characters sizzle through the words, but with Tempting the Scoundrel, all I felt was the fact that I was just reading words on a page.

Tempting the Scoundrel had a lot of potential but I didn’t feel invested in Christian and Raine’s relationship as I would have in a romance novel, historical or contemporary alike.
