Delilah Green swore she would never go back to Bright Falls—nothing is there for her but memories of a lonely childhood where she was little more than a burden to her cold and distant stepfamily. Her life is in New York, with her photography career finally gaining steam and her bed never empty. Sure, it’s a different woman every night, but that’s just fine with her.

When Delilah’s estranged stepsister, Astrid, pressures her into photographing her wedding with a guilt trip and a five-figure check, Delilah finds herself back in the godforsaken town that she used to call home. She plans to breeze in and out, but then she sees Claire Sutherland, one of Astrid’s stuck-up besties, and decides that maybe there’s some fun (and a little retribution) to be had in Bright Falls, after all.

Having raised her eleven-year-old daughter mostly on her own while dealing with her unreliable ex and running a bookstore, Claire Sutherland depends upon a life without surprises. And Delilah Green is an unwelcome surprise…at first. Though they’ve known each other for years, they don’t really know each other—so Claire is unsettled when Delilah figures out exactly what buttons to push. When they’re forced together during a gauntlet of wedding preparations—including a plot to save Astrid from her horrible fiancé—Claire isn’t sure she has the strength to resist Delilah’s charms. Even worse, she’s starting to think she doesn’t want to…

As Delilah Green enters the small town of Bright Falls, a place that she left straight after high school, she discovers that something’s have not changed, but, that doesn’t mean she can’t help how different yet the same Claire looks like. As we dive deeper into Delilah and Claire’s relationship, we slowly dive deeper into their instant connection and the connection they both have to Delilah’s younger stepsister, Astrid.

I gave Delilah Green Doesn’t Care four stars, really enjoying the chemistry between Claire and Delilah. I had such a fun time reading the fact that they were both so different yet came together because of attraction and also their mutual love for Astrid, even if Delilah doesn’t really show her love for her stepsister. I really enjoyed the fact that Delilah also took the time to make friends with Iris and Claire, Astrid’s friends, and in the end, we could see how clear she fell in love with Claire and had slowly become friends with Iris. Delilah Green Doesn’t Care really emphasizes friendship and I really appreciated how even though Astrid and Delilah weren’t really in loving terms with each other, they both cared deeply for each other.

I think the way Ashley Herring Blake writes Delilah Green Doesn’t Care is amazing and it is amazing how Delilah went from a quiet grumpy style photographer to a fun and loving, yet grumpy, photographer. I appreciated how in depth her character was and how much of an impact her childhood had on her life. It really made this book more interesting and have more depth because we aren’t just diving into the relationship between Delilah and Claire, we’re diving into why people seem to despise Delilah and why Delilah’s relationship with her sister Astrid is very strained. But, for the sake of Astrid’s upcoming wedding, I really appreciated that Astrid, Delilah, Iris, and Claire all came together.

Delilah Green Doesn’t Care wasn’t just about Claire and Delilah’s relationship and that is what made me thoroughly enjoy this. It was such a fun read and I had enjoyed the funny interactions between Delilah, Iris, and Claire. This was such an unlikely trio but it was something that instantly made the books more hilarious. I also really enjoyed that Delilah got a lot of interaction with Claire’s daughter Ruby. This was a relationship that I found really highlighted Delilah Green Doesn’t Care because it showed this other side of Delilah that no one saw.

Overall, Delilah Green Doesn’t Care was a very fun read. We not only got to see a hot romance between Claire and Delilah, but blooming friendships, reunited sisters, and unlikely allies form together for this book. It was a very fun read and I highly recommend it.
