After the events of book one: The Lost Elemental, Aura is still dealing with the aftermath of being the most powerful aether and the last of her line. Now she must deal with people who are desperate for her to be dead. I gave The Last Aether four stars, really enjoying the series thus far. I find that I enjoyed the development of Aura’s power in this second book and how each of the princes played a role in how Aura’s magic works. I loved that her relationship with Kai, Atlas, Phoenix, and Riven truly developed in this book

My universe has been turned upside down. Not only am I no longer human, I’m also the most powerful elemental the world has seen in centuries. And I have no idea how to wield the power coursing through my veins.
Did I mention I also have four fated mates? The charmer, the gentle giant, the psychopath, and the cruel prince who would rather kill me than kiss me. Throw in mean girls, assassins, and kings out for our blood, and I’m having a rough freshman year.
Just as I feel like things might be coming together, a secret is revealed that changes everything. And I’m left wondering if there’s anyone I can trust at all…

There will be spoilers as this is the second book in the series!
I loved that her relationship with Kai, Atlas, Phoenix, and Riven truly developed in this book and that we could see her becoming much closer with all four of them. Even though Riven has always been somewhat left out, I like how his relationship with Aura was strengthening and you can see how the beginnings of their connections began to form. In my opinion, and I can’t wait to see what happens in book three, but I think that Riven’s connection with Aura is going to be the strongest out of the four. While all of them are truly connected and are mates with Aura, I feel like there has always been an underlying relationship between her and Riven. That being said, I love all four of them and how unique of a relationship they have with Aura.
The Last Aether I feel like becomes better than the last. There’s more plot to the story and I just love how the pace is much faster than The Lost Elemental, while book 1 was an introduction and leads off with an unexpected twist, we are thrust into Aura’s world where we have more excitement and more questions to ask as to what happened and why Aura is being attacked by these people.
A great book 2 and I’m excited to see what book 3 and the final book The Queen of Quintessence brings to the series.
