Romantic comedy following two thirty-somethings who meet on a blind dating app—only to realize that their online chemistry is nothing compared to their offline rivalry.

Perpetually cheerful and eager to please, Gracie Cooper strives to make the best out of every situation. So when her father dies just five months after a lung cancer diagnosis, she sets aside her dreams of pursuing her passion for art to take over his Midtown Manhattan champagne shop. She soon finds out that the store’s profit margins are being squeezed perilously tight, and complicating matters further, a giant corporation headed by the impossibly handsome, but irritatingly arrogant Sebastian Andrews is proposing a buyout to turn the store into a parking garage. But Gracie can’t bear the thought of throwing away her father’s dream like she did her own.

Overwhelmed and not wanting to admit to her friends or family that she’s having second thoughts about the shop, Gracie seeks advice and solace from someone she’s never met—the faceless “Sir”, with whom she connected on a blind dating app where matches get to know each other through messages and common interests before exchanging real names or photos.

But although Gracie finds herself slowly falling for Sir online, she has no idea she’s already met him in real life…and they can’t stand each other.

I gave To Sir, With Love five stars, absolutely loving this book, especially the audiobook. The narrators do such a phenomenal job when it comes to portraying Gracie and Sebastian and their lives. I found myself feeling the yearning between these two. And even though we only hear from Gracie’s point of view, I could also feel Sebastian’s yearning and his emotions. This is a huge part of why I came to love To Sir, With Love. That being said, the physical book is just as amazing. Although I read it on audio, I did flip through the book and followed along. I know that in any format, this book is truly something amazing.

I loved the relationship between Gracie and Sebastian. I liked how it made me watch You’ve Got Mail for the second time and the fact that even though Gracie and Sebastian didn’t like each other at first, you could feel their chemistry every single time they interacted with each other. They hated each other but they also couldn’t take their eyes off each other. I feel like that’s one thing that Lauren Layne did amazingly in this book, portraying that “love at first sight” feeling. Even with Gracie’s family business not doing well, you could feel the anger and the sadness that Gracie portrayed. This book was simply well done and I found myself wanting more.

As an overall romance, To Sir, With Love is done well and I loved that it wasn’t too short but also not too long. It was the perfect length. This was fun and romantic and it made me so happy to read.
